Badgers Rout Nebraska To Win Big Ten Title

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WHBL) - The 2012 Big Ten Conference football champions may have five losses, but they won the title game convincingly in Indianapolis Saturday night.  Rushing for 531 yards – including two runners topping 200 yards on the ground – the Wisconsin Badgers got revenge for a regular-season loss and demolished a pretty good Nebraska team 70-31.  UW threw only 10 passes because it didn’t need to throw more.  It dominated the line of scrimmage. Much like the first meeting, the Badgers scored the first two touchdowns, then Nebraska rallied to cut the lead to 14-10.  It was a runaway after that - nothing like the first meeting.  Montee Ball set an NCAA record for rushing touchdowns and extended his record for total TDs.  He rushed for 201 yards and three scores, while Melvin Gordon torched the Cornhusker defense for another 217 on just nine carries. Everybody got into the act.  James White rushed for 108 yards and scored four times, while also throwing a touchdown pass to Sam Arneson.  Quarterback Curt Phillips caught a 27-yard pass from Jared Abbrederis as Wisconsin emptied out its playbook, throwing everything at Nebraska.  Marcus Cromartie returned a first-quarter interception 29 yards for a score. The rout means another trip to Pasadena and a third straight Rose Bowl berth for coach Bret Bielema and his team.
