This year, I'm excited to announce we've teamed up with The American Heart Association to be a part of the 2012 Sheboygan County Heart Walk.

The event will be taking place on Saturday, October 6th, at River Park in downtown Sheboygan Falls. Walk starts at 9:00a.

After talking with Tim Nikolai, the Youth Market Coordinator at the American Heart Association, I've learned there are two main goals for Heart Walk participants.

The first goal is to fundraise. This is a great cause to support as unfortunately many of us have had loved ones affected by heart disease. Heart disease and stroke are the number 1 and number 3 killers in Sheboygan County. 

In fact, more than 1 in 3 adults has some form of cardiovascular disease. 

However, the good news is that 80% of heart disease and stroke can be prevented.

Which is where the second goal comes into play.

Along with fundraising to fight heart disease and stroke, the second objective is to simply encourage each other to live healthier lifestyles.

So regardless of how much money you or I can fundraise, I highly encourage you to get some exercise, enjoy a FREE family-friendly event with music, kids activities, and life-saving health information, and walk with me at the 2012 Sheboygan County Heart Walk.
